Things Are Changing for the Martians’
I really suck at posting. I always tell myself I’m going to try to blog more, but I never no. Stephanie keeps her blog much more updated. Anyways, I just wanted to fill you in on the changes that are happening with our family.
Baby Martian
We found out in early January that we were going to be parents. No this wasn’t planned, but I feel like there’s really never a perfect time to have a baby. Fast forward to May 22nd, 2019 and we are a little over halfway through our pregnancy, and we found out we are having a baby girl! I have to prepare myself for all the pink(I mean I already feel like I have a lot pink in my life), but there’s going to be even more.
I am nervous/excited for the journey that’s ahead of us being parents. Thankfully we have an amazing family/friend support system around us, and people who are already parents. I thank God daily for the gift of life and this miracle he’s forming inside of Stephanie. It’s truly a blessing. We are looking forward to meeting Baby Girl Martian on September 30th!
Stephanie’s going to be doing weekly pregnancy updates and posting a lot more about Baby Martian on her blog, so you can check that out here.

New Job
As you may recall, I was working for Evergreen Public Schools as an IT Hardware Maintenance Tech. I was told back in March that there was a possibility of being laid off due to budget cuts. Of course, knowing that we were expecting in September I started to panic a little but hit the job search hard. The main thing was the need for health insurance since Stephanie works for herself, I am the one that provides us with health insurance. After several interviews with companies, I landed a job with EmPres Healthcare as a Senior Service Desk Analyst.
My new job is different in the fact that I sit at a desk all day, answer phone calls and help assist people remotely. However, it is challenging not physically seeing the issue that’s happening but having to somewhat blindly walk a user through how to fix heir issue. The challenge isn’t a bad thing and is building my people & troubleshooting skills. I am looking forward to growing at this company and building my IT skillset.
New Ministry Opportunity
After Stephanie and I got married, we were searching for a church home. On Christmas Eve this last year, we decided to head literally across the street from our apartment to Journey Community Church. We went back the next Sunday and really felt like it was home. It was a good happy medium for Stephanie and me both. A church will never meet all of your expectations, but I truly believe God calls you to a certain church for a particular reason.
I started helping out with Sound, which was an apparent need the church had. I knew it wouldn’t take long for me to get back into the rhythm of Sound/Media things. Starting in June, I am going to be the Media/Technology Coordinator. I will be in charge of training people, overseeing equipment upgrades and the flow of media elements on a Sunday morning.
Stephanie served with Kids Ministry on Easter Sunday is going to be helping out with the kids on a more regular basis as well. We feel like the pieces have fallen together but we really know God was orchestrating this all. He knew what was best for us, and it was all in the right timing. We are excited about the vision of the church and what God is doing in our community.
So that’s a little update on what’s going on with the Martians’. I’ll try to blog more, but I’m not going to make any promises.
